Matthew Barnett <pyt...@mrabarnett.plus.com> added the comment: I am not able to build or test a 64-bit version. The update was to the source files to ensure that if it is compiled for 64 bits then the string positions will also be 64-bit.
This change was prompted by a poster who tried to use the re module of a 64-bit Python build on a 30GB memmapped file but found that the string positions were still limited to 32 bits.
