Ned Deily <n...@acm.org> added the comment: Regardless of the root cause, I really hate to see 2.7.1 go out with this unresolved. As it stands, IDLE was broken in the 2.7 64-bit OS X installer for 2.7 and, as it stands, is still broken. And whether it is an Apple Tk problem or not (which remains to be determined), there are workarounds that could be applied - like having a 32-bit-only IDLE built with Aqua Tk 8.4 as the 32-bit installers do.
