I sent my signature in 2008 (I faxed it to USA). Some time after, somebody asked me to send it again, because they couldn't find it anymore (they got it initially, because I got my commit privileges). So, somebody lost it, and somebody found it was missing and ask for it again. So, somebody was paying attention and investing time being sure everything is ok. That said, I have used the same PGP key for 15 years. Would be nice if a digital signature would be enough.
