You can't have travelled far beyond Alpha Centauri recently. The major interstellar banking corporations need *quite* a lot of bits for dealing with the economy of a medium-sized galaxy. The Decimal module has been a godsend to them -- they were all making do with long integers until that came along. Of course they've had to make some modifications to handle the number bases used by some of the more unusual species out there, such as the 13-fingered Quezorpians, but that's just a simple matter of programming. Always remember where your towel is, Zaphod _______________________________________________ Python-Dev mailing list Python-Dev@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-dev Unsubscribe: http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-dev/archive%40mail-archive.com
