That's not really relevant for python, python is build using makefiles not using a Xcode project (and I'd like to keep it that way).

BTW. Xcode 2.4 can already build 4-way universal binaries, Tiger supports 64-bit unix programs. On my system file /usr/lib/ libSystem.B.dylib (the unix/C library) says:
$ file /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib: Mach-O universal binary with 3 architectures
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (for architecture ppc64): Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library ppc64 /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (for architecture i386): Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386 /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (for architecture ppc): Mach-O dynamically linked shared library ppc


On the new Mac Pro's and probably the Core2 based iMac's as well libSystem also contains a x86-64 version.
