The fun starts now. We've just seen the last official release of Python 2, and while it will be maintained for a long time (and used for longer I'm sure), we've put out the clear message that the future is Python 3. So I think you'll start to see momentum around Python 3 pick up, and that includes improvements to the stdlib. In fact, with the moratorium in place, I'm hoping *most* of the incredible Pythonic brain power will be devoted to Python 3 stdlib improvements. -Barry
