Ah, timed releases :-) I know this is bike-shedding, but PY_MINOR_VERSION has never used two digits, so far. More seriously - I think that monthly releases would be a *dis-service* to users, and I base that on personal experience with both Bazaar, and TortoiseSVN. For less-than-daily users, the user experience will be that they should upgrade their installation *every* time they want to use it. People providing support will always ask "are you using the latest version", to which the answer will be "of course not, I am using an installation that is five weeks old".
