Don't be terrified :) But do understand that, in general, and especially for this already-noisy thread, the right place for arguments supporting a change or a reversion is usually on the issue tracker: https://bugs.python.org/ I don't know whether Robert's opened an issue to propose his solution, but if not, you could open one and add him as nosy.
