3. Keep everything in the main CPython repo, but add a "Bundled" subdirectory of independently releasable multi-version compatible subprojects that we move some Lib/* components to. I think one of our goals here should be that "./configure && make && make altinstall" continues to get you a full Python installation for the relevant version.
