See http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/LifeCycle/EOL While I can't help you with the unicode issue, I suggest to upgrade to a supported version (ideally Fedora 13) and try there. Your issue may already be resolved. If not, please open a bug in Red Hat Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Fedora&version=13&component=python Also, try to be more verbose when describing your problem.
