Devil's advocate: why prepare a patch and submit it if it is going to be dismissed out of hand. Trying to gauge support for the idea is a reasonable first-step. Devil's devil's advocate: if it has value, it could stand on it's own and gain it's own group of supporters as a CPython fork. Nick
