Perhaps "argue" is not the right word here. It sounds too much for or against. And it has implications of being heated and angry. I think "discuss" might be a better word to use. This has associations of a disinterested pursuit of truth, and an openness to new ideas. The ability to see both sides of an issue is, I think, very important for reaching the compromises that have helped Python succeed, both technically and in creating a broad and harmonious community.
