This is just flatly wrong of usage in particle physics. Electron volts are precisely the default units used to describe the mass of subatomic particles. Would it help if we stopped saying "units" and instead referred to > "standard units"? Yes, limiting the idea to ""SI units" would cover far less. And thereby have far less motivation to change Python syntax rather than use a library.
