Well, this was actually merged to cpython master in August, so not really new by now, but I only discovered recently...
If anyone remembers our old snippets section in the wiki: http://wiki.python.org.il/Code_Snippets_en#cprops:_Cached_properties_using_non-data_descriptors And now (28 Aug 2018: exactly 9 years after that wiki post!): https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/6982 No more having to choose between copy-pasting your own snippets or adding dependecies. It will be available in std functools :-)
