The example that Robert posted is protected with http BASIC authentication (judging by the popup anyway). Part of the Jalopy toolkit is `Login Tools` that implements a CGI Login framework that can be plugged into any CGI with the addition of as little as 2 lines of code.
It includes optional user sign up, user accoutn editing and account administration. This is due for it's first public release into the wild any day now. (All done, docs done, just needs me to finish the Jalopy docs). You can see it in action at the Jalopy demo.
