Thanks for your answers.

I wanted to programme in pyallegro, because it seems that allegro has much more followers than SDL (on which pygame is based). I had also the feeling that the former (allegro) is more convenient in high level game programming. But due to the state of pyallegro maturity I'll dedicate my time to pygame.
