Yes and No. Use the DMG - but it will install Python under /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/... > And then to install Numpy directly as well (manually, from > source), then continue with the MacPorts installation of Gnumeric > (i.e. into /opt/local/)? No MacPorts. The problem is that these will rely on their python available - which seems not to work properly. I had no problems installing e.g. matplotlib which requires Numpy. do everything "by hand". I agree that MacPorts would be nice - but obviously you hit a road-block there.
