I have, in the past, used SRVANY to run a Python app as a Windows

service without SRVANY?

Pick up a copy of Mark Hammond's book "Python on Win32". It has an excellent chapter on using Win32 extensions to write Windows Services. Also you might consider looking at gmane.comp.python.windows usergroup.
