I would suggest to the OP that he take a look
at circuits (1) an event framework with a focus
on component architectures and distributed
processing.

I'm presently looking at Virtual Synchrony and
other distributed processing architectures - but
circuits is meant to be general purpose enough
to fit event-driven applications/systems.
