Hi James, Thanks for the pointer to psutil. I actually did look around on python.org before coding this up to see if there was such a package available but there is not, at least not where I'm looking -- on the other hand, I can't find my car keys most of the time. I would really like to restrict my code dependencies to the standard Python distribution (if there actually is such a thing, I'm new to the language). Of course, that's assuming that I can actually get my code to work in that fashion. If I can't get to the bottom of this issue and figure out why my existing code does not work I will investigate psutil further.
