How so?  I think this assertion is bogus. XML works extremely well for large 
datasets.

If you are sending me data - please use XML .  I've gotten 22GB XML files in 
the past - worked without issue and pretty quickly too.

Sure better than trying to figure out whatever goofy document format someone 
cooks up on their own.  XML toolkits are proven and documented.
