I think learning a language from the documentation is an unreasonable expectation and burden for the authors.
Buy a book, take a class, they are designed to provide you with a path from start to finish in a sensible manner, the documentation in my opinion is supposed to be a reference and a refresher with an assumed level of basic fundamentals. I'm currently taking a class in ARM assembly, the notion that I should expect to plop the thousand+ page reference manual on my desk and just "get to it" is absurd. -- http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
