Python is owned, as in copyright and trademark, by the Python Software Foundation, a US non-profit corporation, with a Board elected by the voting members. Python is defined by the Reference and Library manuals. It was originally designed by Guido, who subsequently gave it to the PSF. At least 95% of current design work is done by other people under the framework Guido established, with his occasional input to make sure Python 'stays on track'.
