Lots of people are using C++ to build packages for statistical programming language R, using the package Rcpp. It has been possible to build such packages for R and S using Fortran and C since the beginning, and many have done so, but the wide usage of Rcpp suggests that there are advantages to using C++. C++ is still the primary language used by financial derivatives quants. -- https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
