Linux does not associate by file extn it uses a 'magic' file to analyse the content of the file so that it runs the correct application regardless of the file extn. to get a python program to run it simply needs the correct "Shebang" ass the 1st line Usually #!/usr/bin/env python or similar -- Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction, ice Is also great And would suffice. -- Robert Frost, "Fire and Ice" -- https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
