It's not an argument, it's a contradiction :-)

I'm reminded of the old stereotypes of Brits speaking
English NICE AND LOUDLY to foreigners to help them understand what
we're saying... (Disclaimer: I'm a Brit, so I'm poking fun at myself
here :-))

It's not actually the worst thing you could do. People speaking NICE AND LOUDLY also tend to speak more slowly and with better diction, both of which make life simpler for your poor old foreigner.
