It would also be helpful to list the full traceback as well as the exact command used (e.g. package attempted to install and passed arguments to pip). A bad file descriptor error sounds like there's a fair chance of it being an issue within a specific module, or something like your OS running out of FDs (rare, but definitely possible if the max limit is low).
