Where there are conventions, they should be documented. I'm in favor of fewer conventions. If the preferred method of doing something is consistent enough that it can be codified as a convention in a PEP, it should be implemented in the compiler, so it becomes a language feature, not a convention. -- http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
