Dear maintainer, I believe those 2 bugs would be fixed by https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/modules/django-haystack/merge_requests/1 Could you have a look please?
I see in https://github.com/django-haystack/django-haystack/pull/1603 that other people outside of Debian seem to have the problem too so the fix might change later on. #896263 and #896296 generate several dependent packages to be on autoremoval from testing soon, so it would be great if we could have this one fixed.
