That's the downside of living on the bleeding edge, I guess. ;) They use "swig" to generate the Python-to-C interface code for calling into system DLLs. That creates a Python extension DLL (.pyd), which does have to be linked to a single Python version. You can certainly fetch the source code yourself, using the cvs archive (I just did), but you would also need to install "swig". That's not rocket science, either, but it has to be built from source.
