Hello All,
I'm working on a school project (my thesis actually) in PyMEL, and I've
found a bug (I think) that's kind of strange. Basically, when my UI
gets called, Maya hangs on school computers. No error or anything.
I found a bug report about calling a menu in PyMEL causing this issue,
and it said updating to the newest version fixed it--however, I got the
lab techs at the school to update PyMEL, and Maya still hangs. I guess
I'm wondering if anyone's run into this, and if so how you solved it..
I'd be glad to post my code if needed, but it's a full object-based
system that's getting fairly large, and I'm not sure where the issue is
to even look--I commented out my menu call, and got it work once, and
then it started hanging again.
Even more interestingly, it works perfectly on my systems here at home,
and on my colleague's systems. The only thing I can guess is maybe it's
some security setting I'm not aware of--however, that's a pretty big
issue, especially since it has to run on the school systems. I switched
all of my code to straight Python, and it seems to work just fine, but
I'd much rather work in pure PyMel.
If it comes down to it, I'll go into full debug mode, but just thought
I'd see if the community is aware of any gotcha's with PyMEL's UI code.
Thanks,
Joe
