Since there's a bilingual theme, would people be interested in a short talk about converting a Python library (xlwt) to Ruby (surpass)? They are libraries to create native Excel spreadsheets from scratch with no nasty dependencies. Great for business reporting and data exports for end users who get confused by CSV files. (check out the python-excel google group if this topic interests you, and the nascent ruby-excel google group)
