The issue is nothing to do with GWT itself, Im sure it can be used to do great work. But it does encourage a style of development where you just slap in premade widgets that you do not really understand, which run in javascript, which you also do not really understand. I still do not really see a very good debugging story for the compile language X to javascript platforms. I guess I am probably a bit like an assembly oldtimer grumbling about these kids and their fancy compilers, but none of these platforms have the same level of maturity.
