Hi, I'm new to this gang, so apologies if this is out of scope - it's not directly python related, but as python is good for pulling things together quite quickly, it is somehow relevant, I think.
I'm trying to see if there might be interest in Dublin to have a startup weekend: http://startupweekend.org/ The point is to try to spend a weekend (more or less) coding to get some kind of a demo working (preferably beta launch ready) over the course of a weekend. Of course, it's only suited to certain types of apps, but there are quite a few of them! The originators behind the plan claim that it's a great way to get cool people together and that people keep coming back. They also claim it's lots of fun. As I've never been involved, I can't attest to either claim, but I'd be interested in finding out. Any others out there who might be interested in giving it a go? If so, we need to get votes for Dublin up to 75 before they will give us their stamp of approval. (Of course, we could do it without their stamp, but I think they've thought it out and I guess they have some experience that shows that if 75 people declare an interest, something good may happen). If you're interested, just vote and if the vototmeter hits 75, we can take it to the next step.
