Hi folks. At PyCon IE next weekend I'll be running a workshop, "Don't be afraid to commit", on the first day of the sprints.
It's aimed at people who'd like to start contributing to Python projects, or would like to take part in sprints, but aren't sure if they have the skills required. So, if you're such a person, please do come along to to it. Very little experience is required. The workshop uses Django for its examples, though the principles involved apply generally to other Python projects. Typically, most people who attend one of these workshops successfully get a patch merged into the Django core before the sprints are over (to make this possible I curate a list of extremely easy-to-fix tickets on the Django project). I'll be there for all of the sprints, especially to support new contributors. There's more information about the workshop at <http://dont-be-afraid-to-commit.readthedocs.org>.
