When I came across the Mac mini media center stuff a couple of days ago I realised that this would be an area where Python/MacPython/PyObjC/appscript could really shine. They have very few ObjC developers right now, and a rather large agenda.

Think of it: the end user will want to use the remote control to browse a selection of songs (or radio stations) on-screen and have the result play through itunes. So we're talking a combination of unix programming/bit manipulation (reading /dev/ttyXX and getting the IR commands), a reasonable user interface in 640x480 (or 575xtheotherone) and talking to iTunes. Python is the only language I can think of that I would consider doing something like this in.

But, of course, I don't have the time:-( But it would really make me happy if people looking for pet projects could have a look at this...
