Perhaps in the vein of historical trivia, there have been previous ties between REALbasic and python. Some years back there was an abortive attempt to create a REALbasic-like development environment for python, written in REALbasic. Though not related to that effort, Joe Strout is one of the senior engineers at REALbasic and he had a background in python before going to RB. Perhaps coincidentally, pythonic concepts like variants (dynamically-typed variables) and "for each x in y" started showing up in RB after his arrival. No help with the current issue, sorry--this just tweaked some memories.
