Well I can verify that there definitely are serious problems with CFURL after screwing around with it a bit. I don't have time to chase bugs, though.


use PyObjC and NSURL instead, those work.

Introduces a big fat third-party dependency though, something I'm trying to avoid here.

Too bad :) If you're writing Mac OS X specific code you **really** should have PyObjC anyway.
