I built new binary installers for PIL 1.1.7 and matplotlib 1.0.0 for Mac Python 2.6 (from python.org).
They are available here for now (though I hope to get them into the standard distributions): <http://www.astro.washington.edu/users/rowen/python/> I built these on Mac OS X 10.4 and have briefly tested them on 10.3.9 PPC, 10.4 Intel and 10.5 Intel. I would be grateful for any testing anyone can do.
