Concur, seems like the best practice way to install python is with brew.
It's a bit too long. The recommended alternatives to the system Python are: * from Python.org (comes with Python Launcher) * MacPorts * Brew Having not used the Apple Python I don't really know if it still routinely contains bugs because of the way Apple massages the POSIX stuff.
