I said that the 0.4.2 example works in the legacy mode. But it is
using the 1.0 backend as you mentioned.

If I delete the 0.1 backend and reset test, the whole thing seems to
work which means the 1.0 backend works properly under FreeBSD.

On the other hand, the 0.1 backend should work as I tried some
libusb 0.1 examples under FreeBSD and they seem to work.
