d2xx is a library from FTDI Ltd, and it looks like you are referring
to PyUSB from http://bleyer.org/pyusb/, which is a different project.

In other words, you've posted to the wrong PyUSB list.

This mailing list is about pyusb, from sourceforge.net/projects/pyusb

Note: it is really weird idea to name a d2xx Python module as "pyusb" ;-(

BTW, if you're looking to an alternate way to drive a FTDI device from
Python, you might want have a look at
http://github.com/eblot/pyftdi, which is built on top of pyusb
(urceforge.net/projects/pyusb). The project is in alpha development
stage, though.
