This is not a standard way of working with Proofread pages, and to handle it it would create several inconveniences (e.g. how many pages will have the related index? etc.) Before acting on pywikibot, there should be an agreement in the wikisource world on such subpages. Until that, the only reasonable thing to do might be to mitigate the issue by emitting a warning and discarding the page (if theare are no major drawbacks in doing so).
