Some general comment son the BVT instructions on the wiki. First, this is not very hard to do. It took me around 30 minutes to set up the per-requisites on fresh Win7 install. And then maybe 20 minutes to run the actual test. The instructions on the wiki cover most things, but I did run into a few extra steps that I had to do. Maybe we can improve the instructions in the wiki? 1. It is not clear what build to download. The wiki points to: http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/install/ But there are a lot of things there, branch builds, etc. I went to the /win directory. 2. The instructions give office.home paths for AOO 3.4.1. But the path is now different in AOO 4.0: C:/Program Files/OpenOffice 4 3. The instructions give the command line for downloading the test source, but TortoiseSVN does not install the command-line SVN tools by default. You need to enable command line tools when installing TortoiseSVN. Or, like I did, just use the GUI. But this requires that someone understand how to use SVN. If I did not know SVN I would be lost at this step. 4. The JUnit link on the wiki is broken. But it looks like this is included by the test automatically? So maybe we can remove that step? 5. I had to do additional configuration steps at command line: a) Add ant directory to path, b) set JAVA_HOME directory. These would be familiar to anyone who understands simple Java programming. So this is all OK, if the tester understands a little bit about Java programming and how to set up the environment. Regards, -Rob > If have some problems, please put forward issues that block you.
