Now, I figured out that you did not meant a read error on the file itself, but a read error on an embedded graphic.
In the meanwhile I reproduced the read error on the embedded graphics with the developer snapshot from 2014-01-13 (rev. 1556251)
In the new developer snapshot this defect has been fixed - see Bugzilla issue 123723 [1].
