Actually, please thread patches when you send series, period. Maintainers should lead by setting good examples. You may have to configure git for your SMTP server. Here's advice from someone who did, with gmail: http://morefedora.blogspot.de/2009/02/configuring-git-send-email-to-use-gmail.html
