I also have this issue. USB pass-through didn't work on windows 8. I try to use "virt-mamanger", and set USB interface to USB 2.0. Then everything works well. The default one would be USB 1.0.
I don't know how to transform virt-manager's configuration to QEMU's command line arguments.
