The USB maintainer (that you've now CC'ed) needs to review and pick it up. It may help to understand what went wrong without it. Because AFAIU migration is possible without VMSD, just not with VMSD that sets .unmigratable = 1. Understanding what this patch is about may also help in determining whether this needs to be fixed in 2.0 or not. That said, the patch does look okay to me on brief sight.
