At present, one can do reasonable testing of QEMU by itself, without needing a management layer on top. If you remove -netdev bridge, then that is no longer possible. (I discount slirp as reasonable; things Just Work with bridging.) I am opposed to requiring libvirt in order to test QEMU. r~
