Since you mentioned having an issue finding the floppy driver for virtio; this is he latest link from fedoras repo, later links do not have it:

You might be able to perform a drive controller swap: Essentially : On Vbox's end, add new hardware via control panel and see if you can manually install the virtio driver and then shutdown. Then try booting the instance in qemu while using the virtio device as the main drive controller. If that does not work, you could try to remove the controller on Vbox's end and shutdown and boot from qemu. You should also be able to change the current HAL type from control panel by change the listing in device manager.
